Why I Built This
My wife runs Coco Glam, a retail business here in South Africa. Like many merchants, she started losing money to fake proof of payments. Customers would send beautifully edited Capitec and FNB screenshots — and by the time we realised the money never arrived, they were gone.
The banks couldn't help. "Wait for the money to reflect" was the only advice. But in retail, you can't hold a customer for 3 days while an EFT clears.
I've spent 27 years in IT and 17 years specifically in fraud prevention for telco and fintech companies. I knew exactly how to solve this. So I built VeriPop — first for Coco Glam, now for every merchant in SA facing the same problem.
